STREAMING-MEDIA PROCESSOR EMPOWERS TRINEXUS BROADBAND SET-TOP BOX FOR AN ENHANCED TELEVISION EXPERIENCE
Santa Clara, Calif., - January, 29, 2001 - Tvia, Inc. (NASDAQ TVIA), a provider of streaming media gateway processors, today announced that TriNexus Holdings Ltd. is using Tvia's CyberPro 5055 processor in its broadband set top box (STB). This STB enables television programs and Internet/interactive content to be seamlessly displayed in real time on standard TVs. The TriNexus TV Postman employs the TriNexus architecture for next-generation STBs for network operator branded applications. This architecture becomes the link between a consumer's TV set and a network to enable delivery of a broad range of services and a wide degree of interactivity. Potential bundled applications and subscription services include e-mail, instant messaging, video mail, TV listings, interactive gaming, news, sports and weather delivery, and TV e-commerce.

The CyberPro5055 is a high-performance, highly integrated streaming media processor. Used in advanced set-top boxes, Internet enabled devices and digital televisions from the world's leading OEM manufacturers, the CyberPro5055 can process, in real time, multiple streams of rich media content including, video, audio, data, graphics text and animation. It combines a high-performance video processor as well as multiple video capture engines, scaling, time-base correction, de-interlacing, overlay/transparency processing and picture-in-picture. Additionally a graphics/text/animation processor with an integrated high-performance flicker filter provides optimum TV display performance.
The CyberPro 5055 also features FlexiBus? interface, which enables direct interface to major RISC CPUs running most real time operating systems (RTOS).
