TVIA TO DEMONSTRATE PROCESSORS AND APPLICATIONS AT COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2002
SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA - May 23, 2002 - Tvia, Inc. (NASDAQ: TVIA), a leading provider of multi-media display processors for the advanced TV and emerging display markets, today announced that it will introduce and demonstrate its newest multi-media display products and applications at Computex Taipei 2002. Computex Taipei, one of Asia's largest IT events, will be held June 3 -7 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall and the Taipei International Convention Center in Taiwan's capital city. Tvia will hold their demonstrations at a hospitality suite in the Grand Hyatt Taipei, adjacent to the convention center.
Tvia's multi-media display processors are designed to blend video, graphics and audio signals from terrestrial broadcast, narrow band telephone lines, cable, satellite and Ethernet and deliver high quality, interactive picture and audio. Tvia processors are used around the world in products such as advanced televisions, security systems, video conferencing and other applications that require high quality multiple picture display.
Tvia will demonstrate the technical performance of its newest products, including the CyberPro™ 5202 and the CyberPro5600. The CyberPro5202, optimized for advanced television applications, allows the blending of up to three broadband video streams, and has exceptional graphics to manage applications such as system menuing, electronic program guides other graphics-intense applications. The CyberPro5202 demo will be shown using the WindRiverTM Vx WorksTM operating system. Introduced in March, the CyberPro5202 is in sampling stage and is currently being evaluated by more than 14 Tvia customers. With a 24-bit RGB port, The CyberPro5600 offers LCD-specific features designed to allow any type of source to be blended and displayed with exceptional quality. Several features specific to the de-interlace processor of the CyberPro5600 enable superior quality alpha blending, picture-in-picture and multiple picture capabilities.
In addition, advanced scaler features allow images to be enlarged or reduced without loss of image quality. The CyberPro5600 will be introduced for the first time at Computex. A third demo utilizing the CyberPro5202 processor and the Microsoft ? Windows ?CE operating system, will demonstrate Tvia's digital compression capabilities via MPEG2. Tvia will also show the Linux operating system on the CyberPro5000 processor.
Tvia will also have a demonstration designed to show some of the applications that are possible with Tvia's processors. Eli Porat, Tvia's president and chief executive officer said, "What we do at Tvia is very visual. You can tell people how our technology works, but it's so much more powerful to see it in action. The demonstration will include examples of Tvia's capabilities including alpha blending, scalability and synclock features in applications such as electronic program guides, video-on-demand, security systems, video conferencing and more.
