- Tvia, Inc., (NASDAQ:TVIA), a leading provider of multi-media display processors for the advanced TV and emerging display markets, announced today that it is introducing and demonstrating its newest product, the CyberPro™ 5600 at Computex Taipei 2002.

Optimized for use with LCD displays, the CyberPro5600 blends up to three sources of video from terrestrial broadcast, narrow band telephone lines, cable, satellite and Ethernet and delivers high quality, interactive picture and audio.

Eli Porat, Tvia’s president and chief executive officer said, “In March of this year, we introduced the CyberPro5202 to support advanced televisions, and response has been very positive. Now with the CyberPro5600, we are able to serve the LCD display market with this highly integrated product that offers uncompromising quality and advanced display features. We look forward to demonstrating the capabilities of this new processor to our existing and new customers.”

The CyberPro5600 will be introduced and demonstrated during Computex Taipei, one of Asia’s largest IT events. Computex will be held June 3 – 7 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall and the Taipei International Convention Center in Taiwan’s capital city. Tvia will hold their demonstrations at a hospitality suite in the Grand Hyatt Taipei, adjacent to the convention center. Along with the CyberPro5600 demo, Tvia will conduct a demonstration on the new CyberPro5202 for advanced televisions. In addition, Tvia will show several applications that are possible with Tvia’s processors.

With a 24-bit digital RGB port, The CyberPro5600 offers LCD-specific features designed to allow any type of source to be blended and displayed with exceptional quality. With 5 fields of motion detection, noise reduction, mode detection, global frame motion indication and diagonal edge enhancement, the CyberPro5600 de-interlace processor can enable superior quality alpha blending, picture-in-picture and multiple picture capabilities. In addition, the advanced scaler features including a 12-bit programmable scaler, horizontal and vertical processing, interlace and progressive scan support and independent control register, allow images to be enlarged or reduced without loss of image quality.

In addition to the key features designed to optimize the next generation of LCDs, the CyberPro5600 offers the most advanced and highly integrated features of Tvia’s established CyberPro5000 family. Among these features and functions is the FlexiBUS architecture, a configurable bus interface that supports a PCI bus or most major CPUs directly. Through FlexiBUS, industry-standard CPUs supported include the Hitachi SH-7750 and SH-MPX, StrongARM 1110, PowerPC and AMD Elan. In addition, the CyberPro5600 supports the latest Intel® processors PXA250 and PXA210. Through the PCI interface, other CPUs are supported, such as MIPS from several vendors, and x86 from Intel, AMD, Transmeta, ZFLinux and National.

To help customers minimize cost and software development time, Tvia’s CyberPro5600 supports a suite of proven operating system (OS) and real time operating system (RTOS) software including Embedded Windows XP, Windows CE™, VxWorksÔ, Linux™, QNX, Microware OS9 and Itron. The CybroPro5600 also fully addresses the audio contribution to enhanced rich multimedia processing. Tvia’s CyberPro5600 employs integrated audio digital signal processing such as MIDI, FM, 32-channel wave-table synthesis; AC97 support with full-duplex capabilities, PCM input, I2S input and output and SPDIF output.
