Partnership allows for joint marketing and software license efforts

---In order to evolve from current set-top box environments and move to the next level of adoption, Tvia, Inc. (NASDAQ; TVIA) and PCTVnet ASA today announced that they have entered into a software license agreement and marketing partnership.  
 
PCTVnet ASA is an international software company that develops middleware and value added applications to various set-top boxes and Internet appliance vendors. PCTVnet's product portfolio includes several applications like SmartHome, Internet Protocol (IP) videophone and the latest multimedia plug-ins and sophisticated server back-end systems.
The two companies intend to complement each other's capabilities through joint non-exclusive marketing efforts and by entering into a software license agreement. Both Tvia's and PCTVnet's developer kits offer unique software and processing environments for creation of next-generation Internet enabled devices (IAs) and digital broadband set top boxes (DSTBs).
 
"Tvia's CyberPro streaming media gateway processors are widely accepted in the STB industry. We have included support for their technology in our turnkey software solution to aid OEMs in getting to market at the right speed and cost, and with advanced applications that Multiple System Operators (MSOs) could convert into revenue-generating services for enhanced experience and utility for customers." said Nicolay Bèrard-Andersen, Director of Sales and Marketing of PCTVnet. "Tvia is an important element in our software design kit for OEM adoption and development of DSTBs and IAs."
 
PCTVnet developed a cost effective STB reference design based on Tvia's CyberPro5000 streaming media gateway processor for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). The STB includes high quality video telephony, a potentially significant application for the broadband industry seeking revenue-generating services. PCTVnet has front-end and back-end applications, which makes it possible for service providers to increase their revenues.

Tvia CyberPro(tm) Product Family
  The CyberPro 5000 family of streaming media processors is intended for the design of internet enabled devices , digital broadband set-top boxes and digital television. The CyberPro 5000 offers audio, video, enhanced text, graphics, and animation processing engines. The CyberPro 5000 includes two video ports for two simultaneous stream processing. It also features high quality audio and video for of broadband television video, a hardware magnified view of Web pages on television, and a flexible transparency algorithm for blending multiple video, text, graphics, and animation.
